How to submit to DevHunt: cost, link and review time
DevHunt is a weekly launch board for developer tools. Listing is free and carries a nofollow link. A launch costs $19 once and makes the link dofollow, and $49 buys a boosted launch. We confirmed both in HTML: a listing with rel="nofollow noopener" and one with rel="noopener". Tools that are not for developers are not accepted. It suits anything with an API, SDK, CLI or similar.

How to submit to DevHunt
- Sign in to DevHunt with GitHub or Google.
- Open your account and submit your tool with name, website, description, logo and screenshots.
- Your tool gets a permanent page; the website link is nofollow on the free listing.
- Pick a launch week and pay $19 for a launch, or $49 for a boosted launch.
- Optionally add a super boost for #1, #2 or #3 in the launch email, before your week starts.
- Collect votes during the launch week; the tools with the most votes win.
Is DevHunt worth it?
DevHunt is narrow by design: only developer tools, a weekly launch, and voters who are developers. That makes traffic small but relevant for tools with an API, SDK or CLI. The money question has a clear answer from the FAQ: a free listing is nofollow, and $19 turns the link dofollow while adding a launch week and a newsletter spot. For link value alone, $19 is the entry price.
The tiers make the decision simple. If you only want a presence, the free listing is enough. If you want a dofollow link and a defined launch week with a newsletter spot, the $19 launch is the lowest paid step, and a $49 boost adds ordering priority on equal votes and a post on X.
What to prepare before you submit to DevHunt
Check your tool fits. Accepted categories include open-source projects, APIs and SDKs, frameworks, IDEs, CLIs, testing, monitoring, DevOps, databases, auth, AI agents and MCP servers. Non-developer tools and NSFW tools are not accepted. Prepare the listing assets: name, website, description, logo and screenshots. Voting and commenting require a GitHub or Google sign-in, so ask supporters to have accounts ready. Decide your tier first. A $19 launch can be boosted later for the difference until its week ends, and super boosts must be bought before the week starts.
Prepare for the launch week itself. Votes and comments require sign-in, so tell your supporters in advance which week you chose. Winners at the end of the week are featured in the DevHunt newsletter, get a social mention and receive a winner badge they can show on their site.
DevHunt trade-offs
The free listing is a nofollow link, so it is not a link-building tool on its own. Boosts help ranking order only on equal votes, and super boosts lead the email but the home page ranks by votes after the first moment of the week. DevHunt says a super boost is not a fixed spot for launch day. Traffic is limited to the developer audience, and non-dev products are off topic.
DevHunt is open source and run by a small group, which the FAQ says plainly. Traffic is small and momentum can vary. It also sells advertising on the home page, with a visible price of $149 a week, which means paid placements share the page with launches.
How we checked
We read DevHunt’s own submission, pricing and policy pages on 2026-11-01, and for the link attribute we read the raw HTML of a live public listing rather than relying on the platform’s description. Listing checked: devhunt.org/tool/ankimate. Prices and rules change; the date at the top is the last time each fact on this page was checked. Sources:
