Launch guides
How much it costs to list a SaaS on launch directories in 2026
Short answer: most of it is free. Of the 61 launch platforms and startup directories we track, 48 offer a free listing, 7 charge for every listing, 1 works on revenue share and 5 do not publish terms we could verify. Where a paid tier has a published price, the cheapest one runs from $5 to $497 one time, with a median of $39 across 15 platforms. Paid tiers mostly buy speed or placement, not the listing itself.

This page is for founders budgeting a launch. It does not cover review-site advertising budgets, which are quoted privately and are not published on the platforms’ own pages. Toolfound publishes this table and is a row in it, with the same kind of facts as every other row.
The price table: one row per platform
A free listing exists on 48 of 61 platforms, and the price column only shows a number where the platform publishes it. Where we could not verify a value from the platform’s own pages, the cell shows a dash instead of a guess. Each row carries the date its cost facts were read; rows dated 2026-08-09 have not had an individual price check since our dataset review on that day.

What the numbers add up to
A complete free launch across this table costs time, not money. The spread looks like this:
- Free, nothing attached: 46 platforms list you at no cost with no condition. 2 more (Fazier and ToolPilot) list you free only if you link back to them.
- Paid only: BetaList, There's An AI For That, Futurepedia, AI Parabellum, AITopTools, FindMyAITool and ToolsForHumans. AppSumo takes a revenue share instead of a fee.
- Cheapest published paid tier, per platform (15 platforms): $5 (AINave), $14.99 (Uneed), $19 (AI Tools Up), $29 (Fazier), $29 (Toolfound), $39 (AI Parabellum), $39 (mcp.so), $39 (mcpservers.org), $49 (There's An AI For That), $59 (AITopTools), $79.99 (FindMyAITool), $99 (AI Tools Board), $99 (Launching Next), $129 (AI Tools (aitools.inc)), $497 (Futurepedia). The median is $39.
- Recurring placements: where they are published, they run from $9.99 a month (AITopTools, Toolfound Plus monthly) to sponsorships of $500 to $2,500 a month (mcpservers.org).
If you bought the cheapest paid tier on all 15 of those platforms, the total would be $1,225.98. Most founders do not need to, because on several of these platforms the paid tier changes the date or the placement rather than the listing page.
What paid placements actually change
Paid tiers on launch directories mostly sell time and position, not the listing. Reading the pricing pages side by side, the paid options fall into four kinds:
- Speed. The free queue is a wait; paying shortens it. AI Tools Up quotes up to 30 days free and 24 hours paid. aitools.inc quotes 30 to 90 days free. AI Tools Board quotes 5 to 7 business days free and 24 hours for $99. Uneed’s $14.99 fast-track assigns a slot in about 14 days. Launching Next offers consideration within 1 business day for $99.
- A chosen date. Uneed’s Skip the line ($39.99) and Toolfound’s Priority ($29) let you pick the day. That matters when your launch is coordinated with a newsletter, a press note or a launch on another board.
- Placement. Homepage features, pinned category slots and newsletter mentions (Fazier Premium, FindMyAITool’s higher tiers, AI Tools Board’s featured boxes, There’s An AI For That’s package, Toolfound’s homepage sponsor row).
- The link itself. A few platforms state that paying changes the link: Uneed guarantees the dofollow link on Skip the line, Fazier Premium states a guaranteed backlink, and mcpservers.org and mcp.so state that their $39 tier includes a dofollow link where the free tier’s link is nofollow.
The trade-off to weigh is the fourth kind. A link that exists because money changed hands is a paid link, whatever the attribute says.
Link attributes of paid placements
Google’s published guidance asks sites to mark links that are advertisements or paid placements with rel="sponsored", and lists buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. That is the frame for reading the “what paid buys” column. On the platforms in this table, three patterns show up:
- Paid tier, link still nofollow. Futurepedia’s verified listing and AI Tools Board’s paid tiers keep the nofollow attribute we observed on their listings. The fee buys audience and placement.
- Paid tier, link stated as dofollow. Uneed (Skip the line), Fazier (Premium), mcpservers.org and mcp.so describe a dofollow link as part of what the paid tier includes. We report what the pricing pages say; we did not pay to test these.
- Free tier, link dofollow; paid tier changes the date or placement only. Toolfound’s policy is that every verified listing gets a dofollow link, free and never conditioned on a badge, and that paid placements (homepage sponsor spots) are always marked rel="sponsored nofollow". Priority and Plus change the launch date and the exposure, not the link.
The practical rule: if a free listing gives a followed link, the paid tier on the same platform is a speed or exposure purchase. If only the paid tier gives a followed link, you are buying a link, and you should decide that knowingly. For links read on live listing pages, see launch directories ranked by verified link value.
When paying is worth it
Paying is worth it when the date matters more than the money. Three situations come up repeatedly:
- A coordinated launch week. If you are sequencing boards across two to four weeks, as the launch guide recommends, a free queue that lands on an arbitrary date can break the sequence. A chosen-date tier ($29 to $39.99 on the boards above) fixes that. The SaaS launch checklist lists each platform’s lead time.
- Pre-launch audience. BetaList is paid only, and it is the platform in this table most clearly aimed at startups before their public launch, with a full refund if the startup is not selected.
- AI tools that need AI-directory coverage fast. Several AI directories have long free queues. If you need coverage within days, the fast-track tiers are the only route.
Paying is rarely worth it for the link alone. Platforms where the free listing already gives a followed link are listed in the dofollow directories guide.
How we know
Every price on this page comes from the platform’s own pricing, submit or FAQ page, read by hand. Rows dated 2026-11-01 were re-read that day: Uneed’s pricing page, BetaList’s FAQ, Fazier’s submit page, DevHunt’s advertising page, There’s An AI For That’s launch page, Launching Next’s submit page, ToolPilot’s submit page and Toolfound’s own pricing. Rows dated 2026-09-06 were verified that day against the evidence URLs kept in our dataset, which also recorded the rel attribute on a live listing page. Rows dated 2026-08-09 come from the dataset review and have not had an individual price check since.
We did not pay for any listing to test what a paid tier delivers; where a paid benefit is described as “stated”, it is the platform’s own claim. No traffic or authority figures are added by us. Toolfound publishes this table and is included in it; our row states what we charge and what paying does not change. The rules we apply to ourselves are on the methodology page. Prices change, so each row carries its own date.
Common questions
Are startup directories free?
Most are. 48 of the 61 platforms in this table offer a free listing; 2 of those (Fazier and ToolPilot) require a badge or a link back first. 7 charge for every listing.
How much does a paid directory listing cost?
Across the 15 platforms that publish a paid listing price, the cheapest tier ranges from $5 to $497 one time, and the median is $39. Recurring placements start at $9.99 a month.
Do paid listings give dofollow links?
It depends on the platform. Some paid tiers keep the nofollow attribute; a few state that paying adds a dofollow link. Google asks that paid links be marked rel="sponsored". On Toolfound, the free verified listing has the dofollow link and paid sponsor spots are marked rel="sponsored nofollow".
What is the cheapest way to launch on many directories?
Use the free tiers and accept the queue. Submit to the long free queues first, since some AI directories quote 30 to 90 days, and pay only where a fixed date matters to your launch sequence.
How much does it cost to list on Toolfound?
Listing is free and permanent, with a dofollow link once you verify you own the domain. Free launch dates are scheduled at least 7 days ahead. Priority ($29 once) lets you pick an earlier date; Toolfound Plus is $99 a year or $9.99 a month.
Toolfound lists your product free, with a permanent dofollow page and a public queue date you see before you commit: submit a product. Related guides: SaaS launch checklist · is Product Hunt worth it in 2026? · free startup directories · startup directories with dofollow backlinks.
