SolarGridCheck

SolarGridCheck is a free, independent screen for UK landowners and farmers who want to know whether their land could host a solar farm or battery storage project. Enter a location and it returns the nearest mapped 33kV+ substation, the headroom and constraint flags that the network operator publishes where it publishes them, and an indicative lease income range. It is a preliminary screen, not a live capacity check, a valuation or a connection offer. The data is public: substation and headroom data from all six Great Britain Distribution Network Operators, the government's Renewable Energy Planning Database and the NESO Transmission Entry Capacity register. The site also publishes free data pages on UK solar farm planning by county and on the size of the GB grid connection queue, plus landowner guides on lease income, selling versus leasing, tax and lease due diligence. It is free for landowners. If a site looks viable and the landowner asks, SolarGridCheck introduces them to solar and storage developers, who pay a fee if a project goes ahead.
